Congratulations to Jason Newton who on Sunday won the Tigers Matchplay Championship.

Well done to Alan for making the final and good luck to both in this weekend's Ryder Cup matches when the Tigers take on the Rabbits.

Rabbit`s News

"Congratulations to Brian Goose on winning the Rabbit Summer Singles competition.    A very hard fought game going to the last hole.  Well done Brian.

With Kelvin Wilkins and Brian Rudkin winning the Summer Doubles a good seasons golf has been had by all.

Two very good summer competitions played out to great finals both going the distance.  We just look forward to taking the Ryder Cup back from the Tigers this weekend.  Watch E Mail from this evening for team selection and timing.

Congratulation too to Ian Atkinson for heading the Summer Eclectic with a remarkable 52 after handicap.  This competition will be carried over to the Winter Eclectic so everyone gets another four rounds to improve their scores.

Scratch Team Thank You

Rabbit`s Captain

I would like to thank everyone who attended my Rabbits Captain away day,we were fortunate enough to have wall to wall sunshine which made for a great day. The morning started with a nine hole Texas Scramble won by Steve Fluen and Les Baldwin,runners-up Steve Price and Mike Dearden with the par 3 nearest pin going to Richard Parkin.
>After lunch we played an 18 hole Stableford competition looking for the captains away day champion, knowing from the morning that the course was playing hard we weren't sure what scores would be posted. As the round unfolded it looked as if the prize could be going to one of my playing partners Kelvin Wilkins,if only he could manage to score on consecutive holes rather than birdie - n/r - birdie - n/r etc., but he managed get his act together on the back 9 scoring 19 and a total of 32 for the round, would it be enough???. As the groups started coming in with scores of 23-24-24-22-28 etc it was looking good for Kelvin, then came the news he didn't really want to hear,Brian Goose had returned a 33. All those missed scores Kelvin cost you. Well done Brian, this years champion. Prizes also won in the afternoon were 3x nearest pin Steve Price, Billy Singh and Brenda Aspin, longest drive Steve Fluen and the Secret Six went to Brian Goose.
Finally I would to thank the three ladies who also attended,Brenda ,Denise and Maureen, I hope you all enjoyed the day it was lovely to see you.

Scratch Team Update

Our Scratch Team squad have continued to perform well over the last few weeks.

After defeating Low Laithes in the first round of the Scratch Knockout Cup they were drawn against the formidable Pontefract Scratch Team who have 2 Yorkshire players in their team. With Darren Greene’s victory and Steven Appleton’s narrow defeat leaving the match at 1-1 it was up to Jason Newton to try and pull off an upset. Playing +2.4 handicapper Andy Wilshire, Jason had taken the lead with a birdie blitz but was pegged back to all square in the fading light. Halves at the 1st and 2nd meant due to darkness the match had to continue at the 3rd a few days later where Jason sealed the deal and sent our Scratch Team through to the 3rd round. Another tough game await’s as they play Wakefield away who currently sit top of Division 1. Good luck lads !!

In the league at Scarcroft, despite taking it to the 18th both Jason and Martyn Clancy couldn’t add to Darren’s earlier victory losing that match 4-2 but this was followed by a 6-0 victory at home to the previously unbeaten Sandmoor with Darren, Martyn and Richard Flowitt victorious.

In the Yorkshire Cup Foursomes Jason and Darren beat the Scratch pair from Wetherby at Pontefract Golf Club to make it to the third round but the following night Darren and Steven were defeated in the Leeds & District Foursomes version at Wetherby GC by Scarcroft.

Once again all the team want to thank the few people who have come up and supported them but welcome everyone else to come up and support on a Monday night through the Summer – fixtures are on the pro-shop door or on the notice board.

"This week  juniors played at Wetherby in the league and then the cup.
Unfortunately both games ended with two games lost and only one won.
Anthony Watts won in the first match and Todd Hughes in the second.
Tuesday 21st May see the first of two home games with Moortown the first opponents.
All support is welcomed

Scratch Team News

It has been a good start to the season for our Scratch Team squad of Jason Newton, Darren Greene, Martyn Clancy and Richard Flowitt.

A great knockout cup win against Low Laithes 2-1 set’s up a local derby against the formidable Pontefract scratch team at home in the next round.

Jason and Darren progressed in the Yorkshire Foursomes knockout with a 3 & 1 victory over Easingwold at Moor Allerton last Friday night.

Our Scratch team won promotion last season and started off this year’s campaign away against a strong Wetherby side, the team were bitterly disappointed not to get anything against lower handicappers but showed real promise with 2 matches going to the 18th and the other ending on the 17th.

This promise was fulfilled on Monday of this week with Jason, Darren and Martyn all winning at home against Wooley.

The Scratch Team’s next game is away against Scarcroft next Monday with the next HOME match against Sandmoor on Monday 3rd June.

All the team would like to thank the few people that have come up to support them so far but would love to see more support from the members on the course on a Monday night through the Summer as it really does make a difference.

Junior`s News

" The juniors started their League 3 campaign with an away game against Oulton Hall on Tuesday night.  Despite a good performance from Todd Hughes, Luke Beardsmore and William Watts they were beaten on the night and the team unfortunately suffered a 6-0 loss. They are hoping to bounce back next week with another tough away match at Wetherby before back to back home games on the 21st and 28th May....All support welcomed."

After qualifying in third place at the oaks GC. our intrepid scratch team trio Martyn Clancy, Jason newton& Darren green, came in a worthy 12th place in the Yorkshire county 7th division championships today at Cottingham golf club.

despite blustery conditions and greens as hard as rock the three acquitted themselves well in very difficult conditions.

the highlight of the 2 rounds was Darren's third lowest gross in the afternoon round.

Here's the three weary golfers enjoying a pint and a bite to eat before embarking on the second of two rounds.

All three again shone the torch for our club supported by our president Pete Topham and myself.

the result means that we will not have to complete pre-qualification next year. well done lads you deserved the pint.
